Hello Brothers and Little Sisters, August 20, 2003
I hope that everyone is having a great summer. I would like to take this opportunity to update everyone on the progress of the newly formed Alumni Association. Since the inception of the association a year ago, we’ve accomplished many of our goals that we set for ourselves. Here are just a few of our accomplishments:
For those who couldn’t make it to the NYC Happy Hour in the spring, it was a great success. We had a turnout of about 60 brothers, little sisters, and guests from several different eras of Pi Alpha Nu. It was great to see such a good turnout and was an excellent first association sponsored event. We will be planning many more events in the near future. If anyone has any ideas for events or would like to be involved in helping us plan, please contact me.
Our next event will be Homecoming 2003. The dates for Homecoming are October 17 – 19. The boys up in the ‘Burgh have a new house and it should be well worth the trip. Check the website periodically for updates.
I encourage everyone to stay informed and check out our website (www.pialphanu.com). I’d like to thank Drew Pecunia for all of his dedicated work in keeping the site up to date and doing an excellent job. If you have not visited the site in a while, it now has a completely new layout. I’d like to thank Brett Goldberg for taking over as the new webmaster and putting many hard hours of time into revamping the site. As the cost of sending out letters, such as this, is very high, the best lines of communication are through the website and e-mail. The site now contains a protected area where you will be able to view the alumni database, pictures, message board, and many new features to come. If you haven’t already done so, please stop by and register to gain access to the protected area.
For the association to continue its recent success, it is absolutely crucial for members to make donations. In order to continue mailings such as this, events such as Homecoming, and be able to build capital to obtain our ultimate goal of purchasing a fraternity house, we have chosen to rely on donations and fundraisers. We feel that voluntary donations are more appropriate at this time rather than charging mandatory alumni dues as most other alumni associations do. Please be assured that all donations are managed properly and are kept separate from the active chapter's finances. Donations can either be made electronically at the website or mailed to the address contained in the header of this letter.
We have had a very successful first year and look forward to continued success of the association. For this organization to be successful we need everyone’s participation. Please frequently visit and post at our website, show up to the events, and donate. If anyone would like to be involved in the association administration, please contact me. On behalf of the executive board, we look forward to having another great year and seeing everyone at our future functions.
Fraternally yours,
Steve Harding – Spring ‘94
